South & West of the Range
Sarah Attfield, Harry Laing and Bee Perusco

Congratulations to Poets Union members, Sarah Attfield (Carringbah), Harry Laing (Braidwood) and Bee Perusco (Thirroul), on their selection for the 2006 Poets On Wheels tour. They gave readings and presented workshops at Albury, Cootamundra, Goulburn, Griffith, Tumbarumba and Wagga Wagga, September 1-7, 2006.

ABOUT THE POETS

Sarah Attfield's first collection of poetry, Hope in Hell focused on the experiences of four working class people. She has been published in many Australian journals and has read her work in a variety of venues. She is currently completing a PhD.

'embracing the battlers…Attfield's social observations linger and inform.' - Jennifer Harrison Australian Book Review
'Memorable…' - The Age

Harry Laing is a poet, comic performer and writer. He is also a dynamic and entertaining presenter of his own work. Together with his partner, Nicola, he presents PoetryAlive workshops. He lives in the bush near Braidwod. His first book Thirst was published in the UK.

'… perhaps Australia's finest reader of poetry. He reads not only his own but a wide range of other poets' work, and always superbly.' - Mark O'Connor
'… has an extraordinary talent for showcasing poetry: its drama, lyricism, poignancy and humour.'
- Nicola Bowery

Bee Perusco is a closet poet who outed herself in 2001 with the help of an imaginary sea creature named Reena. Her first work is an illustrated collection from her 15 minute multi media performance poetry show called HOMELESS - a sea creature speaks. She has performed widely.

'In the garden of Eden there has never been a rarer or more precious pearl.'
- Tug Dumbly 'Come dance in her garden of words. This Bee will have you buzzing with both her honey and her sting.'
- Meg Dunn
