About the show Madwoman’s Breakfast. Eat my Bush!
'From Federico Garcia Lorca to Phyllis Diller, from Gloria Steinem to Jerzy Kosinski :
it’s a madwoman’s breakfast! One Australian’s mixmaster of metaphors and emotions about America - opening up a Pandora’s pantry of photos, poetry, quotes and smirks.'

“Stop Howard! Out of Iraq! Eat my Bush!” - 2007 APEC demonstrators, Hyde Park.

About the Madwoman – Cathy Bray has been writing poetry and thinking about America for a very long time. She combines photos of New York with her own poems and every American literary and comic influence she can muster to look at her Australian ambivalence towards America.

About Cathy Bray – Cathy Bray has been writing poetry for the last 20 years. She has had poems published in a number of anthologies including Phoenix (The University of Sydney Writers’ Journal, Ilumina (PoetryUnLimitedPress Journal, Five Bells (journal of the Poets Union Inc.). Prismatics (The Poets Union Members’ Anthology) and in the e-anthology ‘This Broken Hill’ (Meuse Press). She enjoys writing satiric poetry and laughing at her own jokes. In 2010 Picaro Press published her first collection ‘The Owl’ a chapbook of her poems.

Cathy is currently completing a Master of Creative Writing at the University of Sydney in poetry and latterly script writing. Cathy describes her attendance at workshops with the poet Judith Beveridge from 2006-2008, as ‘like being paid to eat chocolate’.

Cathy has also had articles and reviews published ‘Are you on Crack? (Phoenix 2008), ‘A discussion with Judy Johnson’ a conversation with the award-winning Newcastle poet (in Five Bells 2008) and a review of ‘An Evening of Darlinghurst Nights’ (the 5 night tribute to Slessor by Wordjammin’ and the Poets Union put on at the Tap Gallery for Sydney Writers’ Festival in May 2009 ‘How do you People Sleep at Night?’ published as ’You Should Have Gone” (in Five Bells 2009 Vol 16 No 4). She has just written a review ‘Witness Protection’ of Laureate Productions’ season of Australian love poems set to original music by Ashley Chatto, 'Love at the Bar’ which featured at the 2010 Sydney Writers’ Festival.
