WordinHand State of Origin - On the evening of July 6th WordinHand at The Friend in Hand Hotel in Glebe presents Bravo Child (NSW) and Suzanne Jones (QLD) in a fast and furious celebration of spoken word.

Bravo Child presents Battletron Candyfloss! A night of lazer cannons and sugar pirates to share among friends. Bravo will be telling stories and presenting characters from the Pop-clash, Utopian/Consumer/Apocalyptic Fuzzy Bunny world he's currently assembling on his laptop. He promises Glad wrap pants, vocal shinaniGUNS, hand-made cardboard robots and a glimpse at his test print of Battlefloss trading cards. From the boy who brought you other fun things... now even more fun things!!! Bravo Child is a storyteller who treasures the breath, rhythm, tone and shape of living words. He has presented in Newcastle’s National Young Writers Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Melbourne’s Overload Festival and the Sydney Opera House as well as in pubs, cafes and community halls. Running writing/performance workshops and freestyle jams, Bravo passionately encourages all to play with words, voice, ideas and experience to continue the tradition of storytelling as a valid form of expression in this modern electronic age.

Suzanne Jones weaves words via a tapestry of spoken word narratives and music set against a backdrop of guitar, keyboard and original electronic soundscapes, poetess and singer songwriter. Two time finalist in the Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup she has been published in the likes of Going Down Swinging, Page Seventeen, Stylus, Cordite, Black Mail Press, Cottonmouth, and Spoken in One Strange Word; she has also featured at WordFood at Woodford Folk Festival, Queensland Poetry Festival and the Australian Poetry Slam; Suzanne is a founding member and committee member of QLD’s premier experimental spoken word collective ouTsideRs.

WordinHand is Sydney’s premier regular and enduring poetry / spoken word event, providing open mike opportunities for voices directly from the Sydney community plus a high-energy poetry slam every month in addition to a featured poet or two.

First Tuesdays except January,
