Have you been staring at your poems for too long? Are you wondering whether your metaphors are working and if your phrasing flows the way you think?
Then join award-winning poet Rhyll McMaster for a co-operative workshop to find out if your poem will sink or swim. Examine your work and the work of others for intention, shape, sound and style. Get feedback on your work from one of Australia’s leading poets and give feedback on the work of others. We will work together with participants' own poems. Please bring three or four current projects to class with copies of each to be shared amongst the class. Your projects can be finished or under construction.
RHYLL MCMASTER has had six books of poetry published, among them a number of limited edition artist book collaborations, and her work has won major literary awards, including the Victorian Premier’s award. She has written a radio play based on poems in her collection On My Empty Feet, which was broadcast twice on ABC radio, and has staged a two-hour show incorporating her poems and pop songs from the 60s with a singer and a four-piece band.
In 2007 Rhyll’s first novel, Feather Man, was published. It won the inaugural Barbara Jefferis award, the UTS Glenda Adams prize for New Writing (NSW Premier’s Awards), and was short listed for the Victorian Premier’s award and the ALS Gold Medal. Feather Man has been published in the UK and USA.
Rhyll has used many of her own poems returned to prose in the text of her novel.
