In Launceston on Wed 30 September Music and the Muse - a workshop was held with Kevin Gillam.

Music and the Muse was a workshop for all writers of prose poetry and non-fiction led by Kevin Gillam, Poet in residence for this year’s Poetry Festival which investigated music and the word…altering the emotional landscape for writing.

Over three hours a variety of pieces of music were played both on CD and live cello. Participants were asked to write in response to each listening (sometimes given starting lines or key words).

After each writing stint, the group discussed the similarities/differences and the impact of the music. Participants came to understand how music can alter the writing atmosphere and how they might use this in their own home/writing space.

The venue was the Adult Education Centre, 51 York Street, LAUNCESTON.
