The Poets Union biennial anthology is a showcase of writing by Poets Union members, and an overview of poetry by new, developing and established Australian poets.
Committed to supporting Australian poets at all stages of their development, the Poets Union publishes this anthology on a self-selecting cooperative basis. All interested members provide one or more poems and pay a small cover charge per page, promoting access to a diversity of voices.
The Poets Union anthologies include major poets and new poets, rural, regional and city poets. You can expect fine examples of a range of styles including lyrical, imagist and romantic poetry; prose poetry, rhyming verse and a variety of fixed form poems.
Some poems are previously published, gathering into one place, works from major Australian journals and taste-tests for the poets' recent or forthcoming collections.
An experienced editor compiles each anthology, often enhancing the work through a thematic approach as in Sun and Sleet (2006) and Ask the Rain (2004). The Poets Union biennial anthologies are excellent additions to a personal, public or school library.
Sun and Sleet, Ask the Rain and earlier anthologies are available from poetry-friendly bookshops, and from the Poets Union. RRP $20.
